Thanks to the characteristics of sound propagation in water, the underwater noise measurements have become an essential resource for many marine activities: sea floor surveys, bioacoustics and military defence systems are just some examples of this.
Since 1982, CO.L.MAR. have been operating in the field of marine acoustic engineering, designing and manufacturing custom systems. Our products are developed from time to time according to the specification of our customers. Each aspect of the project, from mechanics to electronics, is developed within our company, by now an authority in the field of acoustic leak detection.
Over the last few years, using the experience we have gained, we have developed some highly technological products with a wider application field, which we propose as “standard” products.
We have a long track record in “underwater noise assessment” using an acoustic leak detector. These activities require an in depth knowledge of underwater acoustics and a great deal of experience in acoustic measurements. CO.L.MAR. has developed proprietary hardware and software for data acquisition and processing.
Among our clients we are proud to number: NATO, AGIP, SAIPEM, BP, ExxonMobil, TUBITAK, the Italian Navy, many Universities, as well as Italian (ISPRA, ICRAM) and foreign government companies. Among the latter, many environmental organisations that have hired us for purposes of whale listening.
