Environmental Investigation Campaign for the “PERGENOVA Breakwater” Consortium
We are proud to announce the completion of phase 1 of the environmental investigation campaign for the “PERGENOVA Breakwater” Consortium, a project of fundamental importance for the management of the sediments that will be dredged in the Sampierdarena basin area. This project falls within the broader scope of the construction of the new breakwater in the port of Genoa.
The carrying out of the investigations was entrusted to the Temporary Grouping of Companies (R.T.I.) composed of:
- CO.L.MAR. S.r.l. (Agent)
- Agrolab Italia S.r.l. (Principal)
- Ambiente S.p.A. (Principal)
The environmental investigation campaign was preparatory to the management of the sediments to be dredged, a crucial step to guarantee the success of future construction operations of the breakwater.
Sediment sampling was performed using advanced technologies such as:
- ROSSFELDER P-3C Vibrocorer
- FERITECH FT551 Variable Frequency High Power Vibrocorer
These instruments made it possible to collect sediment samples with thicknesses ranging from 0.5 to 4 meters. Subsequently, the samples underwent in-depth analysis, including:
– Eco-toxicological characterization
– Chemical analyses
– Physical analyses
– Biological analyses
