Co.l.mar, as representative and supplier of RTsys, has supplied an autonomous underwater vehicle NemoSens to the National Research Council (CNR), in particular to the Institute for the study of Anthropic impacts and Sustainability in the marine environment (CNR-IAS) in Genoa.
This device was acquired for the PNRR RAISE Project, Spoke 3, with the aim of developing machine learning algorithms for the detection and quantification of environmental noise sources.
NemoSens is a compact and highly technological vehicle. Its software is based on an open architecture developed in a LINUX environment, with support for MOOS and ROS, and allows the programming and planning of missions through mapping tools such as Open Street Map.
Its main features include a UHF band localization system, a real-time data communication system via acoustic modem and an inertial navigation system (INS). Furthermore, it is equipped with advanced sensors for the measurement of fundamental oceanographic parameters, including pressure, temperature, electrical conductivity, dissolved oxygen and chlorophyll-a.
NemoSens can operate up to 300 meters deep, with a navigation speed between 2 and 8 knots, ensuring an autonomy of at least 8 hours even in rough sea conditions.
