CO.L.MAR to carry out in Japan an acoustic inspection of over 11 km of subsea pipeline using ALD® (Acoustic Leak Detector)

After a successful first collaboration in 2013, CO.L.MAR returns to Japan with a new and prestigious international assignment. In March, our team will operate at the Ube Storage Base to perform an acoustic inspection of an offshore crude-oil pipeline, using our proprietary ALD® – Acoustic Leak Detector technology.

Commissioned by Nippon Steel Engineering, the project covers more than 11 km of 48” subsea pipeline and aims to identify any pressurized leaks quickly, non-invasively, and with high precision.

An advanced system for energy-infrastructure safety

The inspection will be carried out with the ALD® Towed Fish system, a passive solution based on analysing the acoustic emissions generated by micro-leaks of fluid.

This technology enables operators to:

  • detect even very small leaks

  • work without stopping the line

  • cover long distances in reduced time

  • reduce costs and risks compared to traditional methods

Long-term trust and international continuity

This new mobilization confirms the reliability of CO.L.MAR technology and strengthens the company’s presence in the Asian market, consolidating relationships built over time with international partners in the oil & gas and offshore energy-infrastructure sectors.

At the end of the operations, we will publish a follow-up news item with results, operational images and key technical highlights.
